Subsequently, while we endeavour restore your vinyl, we cannot always guarantee improvements. Although the cleaning process will remove dust and debris, we cannot rectify damage caused by scratches or worn grooves . Our charge is for one cleaning cycle of both sides of ONE disc. Should we deem further cleaning necessary, we may contact you to discuss how you wish to proceed.
This service is for records that have been used, stored in dry conditions and in need of general refurbishment. Flood damaged/brick dust/contaminated records can be cleaned upon request. We will arrange for a special quotation after we have asked for some further details.
Warp Removal Terms & Conditions and Exemptions:
Some warps are impossible to remove i.e. heat damage to the structure of the vinyl.
Older and heavier vinyl records are better suited to flattening, flimsy thin discs (under 120 grams) not so much, but can often still be successful. Many warped records are already damaged by stylus wear. Warps cause the stylus to decouple on the riser when the disc is revolving. It has the effect of crashing down similar to the feeling you get when falling from the top of a roller coaster. The forces are tremendous and you will often hear a ‘whooshing’ repeat clicks and other noise characteristic of stylus/groove damage. This is often most pronounced on the early tracks at the beginning of the recording. We strongly recommend you familiarise yourself with any such background noise before committing to our treatment as we cannot be held liable subsequently for such damage. Additionally, some minor compromise in overall fidelity may occur as a result of the process in a few cases especially with lighter vinyl. You must weigh up these risks compared to an otherwise unplayable disc when deciding on proceeding with our services.
At this time we only safely repair black vinyl records. 7″, 10″ & 12″ are all possible. We can repair picture discs or coloured vinyl but there is technically a small risk of damage. This is because they are made up of a different chemical composition to standard Vinyl (PVC) and the micro-grooves and surfaces may be damaged by our application. You must bear these factors in mind when making a decision. AudioZomba™ cannot be held liable for damage caused due to our process for these types of disc. If you are unsure please drop us a line or call and we will be happy to discuss.
We cannot repair acetate records or Shellac 78s. We also cannot repair LPs that weigh less than 100 grams for technical & Safety reasons. If unsure, please weigh your record. Most records weigh between 120 and 200 grams so they would be very light and flimsy.
