I spoke with Phil, who was most helpful and I quickly realised that only the best was going to get me hopefully where I wanted the sound quality to be. It surprised me when the tubes had opened up to a 180 degree sound stage with amazing precision front to back, and instruments seemed to now own the space around them. A very entertaining listen. Tubes that were originally in the small preamp were also quality Russian, but not as special and detailed without any harshness ! The 7 band Douk audio pro Eq they went into also gave a fantastic clean way to open up the analytical type of presentation that I like, so lips opening and details in the recording are there presented in detail, then this combo I can’t recommend enough for what you will gain in enjoyment and money saving !!
